
Mizzou Completes Sweep of Vikings, Extends Streak to 12

COLUMBIA, Mo.-- - Missouri had to come from behind to win its 12th game in a row, defeating Cleveland State 6-4 on Sunday to complete a sweep of the three-game series with the Vikings. Freshman Aaron Senne delivered a pinch-hit double in the bottom of the eighth inning, driving in two runs to break a 4-4 tie.
The Tigers have won 13 of their last 14 games and their current 12-game winning streak is the longest since they won 15 in a row in 2005. MU has recorded sweeps in all three of the three-game series this season.
Cleveland State scored first on Sunday, getting a three-run home run from Nate Radtke in the top of second inning.
Mizzou would plate a run in each of the next two innings to cut the lead to one and took the lead when freshman Trevor Coleman connected for his second home run of the season, a two-run shot in the bottom of the fifth inning.
The Vikings scored a run in the sixth and the game remained tied until the eighth when Senne entered as a pinch hitter and doubled to drive in the game-winning runs.
Freshman Kyle Gibson pitched the final 1.1 innings, allowing just one hit and earning the victory. Freshman Greg Folgia started for MU and turned in 5.2 innings of work, striking out four and allowing four runs on just three hits. Folgia retired 11 in a row at one point in the game.
Junior Jacob Priday was 3-for-4 on the afternoon and sophomore Ryan Lollis extended his hitting streak to seven with a 2-for-4 outing. In the three-game series with CSU, Lollis was 8-for-12 (.667).
Missouri will open Big 12 Conference play next weekend with a trip to Lincoln, Neb. for a three-game set against Nebraska. The series will get underway at 1 p.m. on Friday, with games to follow at 1 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
