Opening Statement:
"First of all, I would like to congratulate Iowa State. I really think they played really well. They were very active on defense and were doing a lot of things well. Certainly on offense, they got a lot of third down conversions, made a lot of plays, and fought hard."
"I am also proud of my team. You want to win all these games 40-6, and eat hot dogs in the fourth quarter, but that's not football. We understand that there are going to be battles out there, and I felt that we had a battle here in the fourth quarter, to keep the lead in this game, and that's ok. We won the game and we can grow from that also."
On Pig Brown's Status
The status on Pig Brown is that he has an Achilles issue and I don't know the extent of it. I don't want to speculate, so we'll just wait until we find something out." [Ed. Note: Brown has since been diagnosed with a ruptured Achilles tendon, and is out for the season.]
On facing a potential letdown
"I was very concerned about this game, and the players read about all this stuff and see on television that we were four-touchdown favorites. But you've got to get ready and guess what? If you don't do it, you're not going to win. You're not going to get the prize at the end. So you've got to find a way to win and I feel that we did that today. Certainly you've got to give them some credit. We had trouble on third downs getting off the field. And that was huge. But they made some plays. We made some plays also. We had some big plays defensively."
On the progress of Mizzou football
"I think we know how to win now, we have been there. Someone said that we have won 14 of our last 15 at Faurot Field. I think it is a pride issue and I think our kids know how to win now. You have to win to gain confidence, but I think we have done it enough that we certainly have been tested and we've come up big so far."
Team's execution
"I don't think we executed as well as we should have today. We are going to have to look up the reasons why and look forward to Colorado."
On Tony Temple's return
"It was nice to see him out there, wasn't it? He's got the experience and quickness we needed on the field. I don't think he was 100 percent, but he was close. He's a seasoned player and a good player. He certainly adds a spark to our running game, no question about it."

MU Player Quotes
Junior QB Chase Daniel
On Iowa State as an opponent:
"Winning is not going to be easy no matter who you are playing, so you have to go out there and play as hard as you can, as tough as you can, and hopefully come out on top."
On Tony Temple's return:
"It's unbelievable for him to come back and run like he did and show flashes of the old him. He hasn't played in over a month. To get him hit and roughed up a little bit is good to see that he can take it. He'll be ready for next week."
On the team's maturity:
"We've been preaching all week don't let down, whoever we're playing, don't look at their record. And we didn't. I'm really proud of the team and the coaching staff because they got us ready to play. They've been a little harder on us just to get us ready, and it showed.
Junior DE Stryker Sulak
On the fumble recovery:
"In terms of the game, I think the offense fed off of it. It felt good to do it. I was really happy for (name of person who recovered it) that he got it and got us the touchdown.
"Our offense is packed with playmakers."
Junior PK Jeff Wolfert
On Iowa State as an opponent:
"You've got a Big 12 conference team and you need to bring it no matter who it is. We play in a great conference, so you can't take anyone lightly. It's great to get a win anytime."
Junior LB Brock Christopher
On Iowa State as an opponent:
"I don't think we took them lightly. I don't think we came out playing as well as we wanted to or needed to. I don't think we take anyone lightly, especially in the Big 12 with everything going on around the nation."
On Pig Brown's injury:
"I haven't really heard much about it. I just feel for him. I hope he's going to be alright. We're talking about a guy who plays his heart out with everything he has. He puts a lot into this.."
Freshman WR Jeremy Maclin
On the win:
"I'm glad it came out as a victory. I'm glad we got that game out of our way. Hopefully we can get up and play well in Colorado next weekend."
On Martin Rucker:
"He's just a workhorse. The guy is getting better every game. He's one of the strongest, most powerful guys on the field. He never goes down with the first tackle."
On Pig Brown's injury:
"I really don't know the extent of the injury. I'm sorry for him. Everybody's praying for him. That means other guys have to step up."

Iowa State Head Coach Gene Chizik
On Iowa State's effort in the 42-28 loss to Missouri:
"I thought the kids played hard down to the end. I though that there was a comedy of errors at one point that really were inexcusable. Starting with the beginning of the second half, a couple of kickoff returns in a row put us in a hole. I thought it looked like we were just waiting for bad things to happen. But they kept fighting and kept clawing."
On keeping the ball out of Missouri return specialist Jeremy Maclin's hands:
"We had to mix it up. We had to kick it deep, we had to pooch it, we had to line drive kick it. We had to do whatever we could to keep the ball from getting into [Maclin's] hands on a rhythm kick or he'll kill you with [his abilities]."
On running back Alexander Robinson's 21 carries and 160-yard performance against Missouri:
"Alexander had a good day today and Alexander is healthy. He's got some ability. Our running backs are beat up and tired...we felt like we wanted to give him a chance today regardless of what happened. He just kind of got into a rhythm there and carried the football and it was good to see him run well."
On Iowa State's mindset after Missouri jumped out to an early 14-0 lead:
"Your mindset is you have to hang out and weather the storm, especially when you have a really good team at home. They're going to make plays. I think our defense really stood up there and kind of gave us a little bit of breathing room. When you play a very good, top-ranked team at home, there's going to be those periods of times when you have to weather a run. That's what we had to do after [Missouri's] first two scores."

Iowa State Player Quotes
Freshman RB Alexander Robinson
On playing a team like Missouri:
"Obviously Missouri is a great team, they are ranked 13th in the nation. When you get a team like that you have to capitalize on every opportunity that you have. Obviously we let a few slip away."
Freshman DB Devin McDowell
On making big plays:
"Our whole defense harped on making big plays and that's what we had to do. We had to step up and make the big plays.
On keeping team spirit up:
"The way our coaches are, they harp on us, they keep our spirits up in practice."
On the Missouri Tigers:
"They are a really good team, they are physical. They are a good team, they are really good."
Sophomore WR Marquis Hamilton
On capitalizing on their opportunities:
"We had our opportunities, we just didn't capitalize. We have to get over that obstacle. We play three pretty good teams down the line."
On offensive confidence:
"I feel like with our offense that we are confident enough that we can start on (our own) 10 and still feel like we are going to move the ball down the field. We started at the 10 a couple of drives and we still did move the ball. It would have been a lot better to start at the 30 (rather) than the 10."
