The Missouri women's basketball team returns home to face Texas A&M on Wednesday night in the third annual "Heart of the Tiger" game. Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m.
In a partnership between the Mizzou athletic department and the University of Missouri Health Care, $1 from every ticket sold will go toward vital heart health-related research at the UMHC. The first 500 fans will receive a free T-shirt and a special half-time program will recognize cardiovascular disease survivors. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for senior citizens and children 18 and younger.
Missouri (14-8, 2-7 Big 12) is 10-2 at home this season and has league victories over Iowa State and Colorado. Four Tigers are averaging double figures, led by senior center EeTisha Riddle's 16.4 points and 8.4 rebounds per contest. She has raised both of those numbers in the nine Big 12 games to 18.3 and 8.6, respectively, and has five of her team-high nine double-doubles against conference foes.
Texas A&M (17-4, 7-2) has won four straight, including wins over Nebraska and at Oklahoma, and is ranked 16th and 20th in the two major polls. The Aggies possess one of the tougher defenses in the country. They are holding their opponents to 51.5 points per game which ranks third in the country, while their 37 percent field goal defense is 48th nationally.
Mizzou leads the all-time series 7-4 and has won all five previous meetings in Columbia. A&M secured a 20-point victory in College Station last year that snapped MU's three-game series win streak.
The game will mark the start of the final seven regular-season games in which the Tigers will play four home games.
