In keeping with tradition, the new class of freshmen at the University of Missouri painted the Rock M at Memorial Stadium on Friday. Each year, the freshmen paint the Faurot Field landmark before the first football game.
The M is 90-feet wide and 95-feet high and is located in the middle of the hill beyond the north endzone. It was created in 1927 by MU students with leftover rocks from the building of Memorial Stadium, which opened a year earlier.
