
Women's Tennis Falls To No. 63 Kansas 6-1

Lawrence, Kan. - The University of Missouri women's tennis team was defeated by the 63rd-ranked Kansas Jayhawks 6-1 Saturday in Lawrence.
The loss drops the tigers to 7-8 overall and 0-7 in the Big 12. The Jayhawks are now 12-7 overall and 3-4 in the conference.
Chrissy Svetlic earned Missouri's point in the No. 6 singles match. After falling in the first set 0-6, Svetlic won the next two sets to defeat Stephanie Smith 0-6, 6-4, 6-3. With the win, Svetlic improved her spring singles record to 5-5.
At No. 1 singles, Missouri junior Yelena Olshanskaya fell to No. 107 Ksenia Bukina in three sets 6-1, 1-6, 6-4. At No. 2, KU's Liza Avdeeva defeated Missouri sophomore Lubica Nadasska 6-3, 6-3. Tiger Erika Josbena fell at No. 3 singles to Christine Skoda, 6-2, 6-2. Tigers Amanda Pratzel and Val Dandik lost their matches at No. 4 and No. 5 respectively.
In doubles action, the Tigers lost all three matches on the day. At No. 1, the Tiger duo of Yelena Olshanskaya and Chrissy Svetlic fell to KU's Liza Avdeeva and Ksenia Bukina 8-1. The Missouri teams of Josbena and Pratzel and Charlotte Bellis and Nadasska lost their matches at No. 2 and No. 3 respectively.
The Tigers will finish their three-match road trip Sunday in Manhattan when they will face the 56th-ranked Kansas State Wildcats at noon.
