ATHENS, Ga. -- The Missouri swimming and diving teams posted two more NCAA provisional qualifying times and the Tiger men set a school record in the 800 free relay to highlight the second day of the Georgia Fall Invitational Saturday.
Junior Bennett Clark led off the relay with a 1:38.94 200 split which is a personal best and the second-fastest time in school history. The Tigers time of 6:39.98 was a second-and-a-half faster than the mark set last December. Clark, Gilad Kaufman, Brad Hubbard and Matt Dahlke comprised the MU team. Dahlke was the only member not on the previous record-holding team.
Brice Grunert swam the third-fastest 400 IM all-time at MU as is 3:59.35 in the finals was the sixth-best all day.
"Brice's swim really fired up the team and got us going today," head coach Brian Hoffer said.
In the women's 400 IM, Jill Granger took second in an NCAA 'B' cut time of 4:18.97 - just 2.3 seconds off an automatic time.
Mizzou showed great depth in the 100 butterfly as Clark, Kaufman, Alex Zasadny and Lex Howard all went under 50-seconds in the prelims or finals.
Colleen Gordon became the second Tiger ever to swim under 1:50 in the 200 free as she secured a provisional qualifying time of 1:49.99.
