Television Plans Set for Mizzou-Nebraska Volleyball Series

Oct. 8, 2006

COLUMBIA, Mo.--Both of the year's planned meetings between the Missouri and Nebraska women's volleyball teams will be televised, with the first meeting occurring in Columbia on Wednesday. Mizzou Sports Network will produce Wednesday's match with KZOU airing the match live in Columbia, MetroSports televising action in Kansas City, while FSN Midwest will broadcast the meeting in its areas. Nebraska will likely enter Wednesday's match as the No. 1 team in the nation and Mizzou will likely remain in the national top 20 with a chance to top the Huskers for the Big 12 lead.

Wednesday's match will be called by ABC 17's Beau Baehman with former Tiger coach Craig Sherman providing color commentary. The match will be available for all subscribers of FSN Midwest with the exception of those in the state of Indiana (Pacers pre-season game).

The Wednesday, October 25 match at Lincoln will be aired live by Fox Sports Net on several of their affiliates including FSN Midwest, FSN North (in Wisconsin and Minnesota), FSN Rocky Mountain, and FSN Southwest. In addition, FSN Bay Area and FSN Florida (non-Florida Panthers areas) will air delayed broadcasts later in the week.

The upcoming Wednesday match in Columbia is expected to be well attended as Mizzou will conduct "Can the Huskers" Night II, allowing fans to enter the match for only two canned goods that go to supply the Central Missouri Food Bank. In the first edition of the promotion last season, 7,298 attended the meeting which ranks as the Tigers' top-attended match all-time. Fans are encouraged to show early to the Hearnes Center in consideration of traffic and general admission seating.

Student groups such as VolleyZou and the Kreklow Krazies have produced a match-day atmosphere that is quickly becoming one of the best in both the Big 12 and the nation. VolleyZou boasts over 900 students that have signed up to be part of the action and have become a contributing factor in Mizzou's 11-match home winning streak.
