IRVINE, Calif. - After two days of competition at the 2006 ConocoPhillips USA Swimming National Championships, a number of Missouri swimmers are posting some impressive times.

Rising sophomore Lori Halvorson posted a time of 2:03.14 in her 200 freestyle heat, thus securing a spot at the 2008 Olympic Trials. She joins rising junior Bennett Clark as qualifiers for the event to be held June 30-July 7, 2008 in Omaha, Neb. Clark qualified in the 50 free at the regional meet two weeks ago in Columbia.

Halvorson swam the lead leg in the 4x100 free relay that saw the group of Shannon Hogan, Jill Granger and Carly Sullivan finish 18th in a time of 3:55.03 - narrowly missing a top-16 scoring spot by eight one-hundredths of a second.

In other races of note, Alex Zasadny and Justin Sellers posted personal best times in their 200 butterfly prelims, at 2:05.40 and 2:07.07, respectively.

"It's great to see our athletes swimming fast at the national championships," MU coach Brian Hoffer said. "All of these athletes from Mizzou are at this meet for the first time."

Clark, Halvorson and Granger will be in the pool on Friday for the 100 free, 200 back and 800 free prelims, respectively. On Saturday's final day of competition, Hogan will be in the 100 free and the women's group will swim the 400 medley relay.

Prelims begin each day at 9 a.m. PST, with finals contested at 5:30 p.m. PST.
