Missouri Softball Team Suffers 3-1 Loss in Lincoln

Lincoln, Neb. - Playing their final series of the regular season, the Missouri softball team (23-24, 7-10) dropped a 3-1 loss in Lincoln, Neb., to No. 14 Nebraska (39-8, 12-4). Playing in Bowlin Stadium, the Tigers had four hits and four errors on the day, making all three of NU's runs unearned. Three of Missouri's four hits on the day were doubles.

Nebraska took the early lead, scoring one run in the bottom of the first inning. After striking out the leadoff batter, sophomore righty Jen Bruck (St. Peters, Mo.) gave up a single to Nebraska second baseman Jessica Yoachim. Yoachim stole second and scored on a fielding error by Tiger sophomore second baseman Sarah Stringer (Auxvasse, Mo.). The Huskers added to their lead in the second inning, scoring a single run on Missouri's second error of the game.

Bruck cut Nebraska's lead in half, scoring on a passed ball in the top of the fourth. Earlier in the inning, Bruck ripped a one-out double to centerfield, her 12th of the season, and advanced to third on sophomore Amanda Renth's (Mascoutah, Ill.) 2-0 single to second base.

The Huskers scored their third and final run of the game in the bottom of the sixth frame.
