This weekend the Tigers travel to Lincoln, Neb., for their final two-game series of the regular season beginning Saturday, May 5, at 2 p.m. (CST) with game two scheduled for Sunday, May 6, at 1 p.m. (CST). Ranked 14th in the nation, this marks Missouri's 11th top-25 opponent of the season and the third time in five years that the Tigers will close regular season play against the Huskers.
Live stats for both games will be available on mutigers.com with links to Nebraska's live audio webcast also provided. Currently second in the Big 12 standings, Nebraska is vying for their fourth league regular season championship trophy and first since clinching the title in 2004.
Entering the weekend series, Missouri is down 44-29 in the all-time series. One of Missouri's most often seen opponents over the past 17 years, the Tigers are 5-4 against the Cornhuskers with Head Coach Ty Singleton at the helm (Singleton began his Missouri career in 2003) and 9-15 over the past 10 years. 3-5 in Lincoln, Missouri won both of its games on the road May 8 and 9, 2004, the last time the Tigers were in Nebraska. The Tigers and Cornhuskers have split four of their nine two-game series over the past 10 years.
Currently on a two-game win streak after taking wins over Texas Tech last weekend, Missouri is looking to move up in the Big 12 standings as one of only four league schools playing this weekend. Seventh ranked (in the Big 12 Conference) Kansas will host eighth-ranked Iowa State in a two-game series. Final Big 12 standings will determine seedings for the 11th annual Big 12 Championships, May 10-13 in Oklahoma City, Okla. Teams seeded first through sixth will begin tournament action Thursday morning, with seeds seven through 10 forced to play play-in games beginning Wednesday, May 10 at 5:30 p.m. (CST).
Big 12 Player of the Week Jen Bruck will likely make her 40th appearance and 27th start in the circle this weekend. Bruck owns a .385 batting average, the highest of her teammates, and was named Player of the Week after going 8-for-11 at the plate in games against Iowa State and Texas Tech.
Looking Ahead: Following Missouri's final regular season games against Nebraska, the Tigers will return to Columbia and prepare for the 11th annual Big 12 Championships, May 10-13 at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, Okla.
