Manhattan, Kan. - The University of Missouri women's tennis team fell to the 56th-ranked Kansas State Wildcats 5-2 on Sunday. With the loss, the Tigers drop to 7-9 overall and 0-8 in the Big 12.
Missouri junior Amanda Pratzel earned her 12th victory of the season, defeating Fernanda Da Valle 6-3, 6-7(9-7), 10-6 at the No. 4 spot. At No. 6 singles, Tiger sophomore Chrissy Svetlic defeated Tereza Prochazkova 6-1, 6-0. Svetlic won three matches this weekend, improving her singles record to 6-5. Svetlic teamed up with Missouri junior Yelena Olshanskaya to defeat Kansas State's Tamar Kvaratskhelia and Maria Perevoschikova 8-2 at No. 1 doubles.
Despite winning at No. 1 doubles, Missouri dropped the No. 2 and No. 3 matches to lose the doubles point. At No. 2, the Tiger duo of Amanda Pratzel and Erika Josbena fell to Jessica Simosa and Katerina Kudlackova 8-6. And at No. 3, Missouri's Charlotte Bellis and Lubica Nadasska fell to Fernanda Da Valle and Olga Klimova 8-3.
At No. 1 singles, Tiger junior Yelena Olshanskaya fell to K-State's Maria Perevoschikova 6-1, 6-3. At No. 2, Jessica Simosa defeated Missouri's Lubica Nadasska 6-1, 7-6(9-7). And Tigers Erika Josbena and Val Dandik lost their matches at No. 3 and No. 5 respectively.
The Tigers will get their next chance for a conference win Friday when they travel to Ames, Iowa to face Iowa State. The match is scheduled to start at noon.
