DALLAS, Texas - Senior guard LaToya Bond was named Big 12 Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week by a media voting panel for games played from Jan. 30-Feb. 5. It is the second conference weekly award for Bond, who also earned Player of the Week honors following Mizzou's league-opening wins vs. Baylor and Kansas State.
Bond averaged 25.5 points in Missouri's two games to keep the Tigers in a tie for second place in the league standings. She began the week with a team-high 21 points - including 20 in the second half and overtime - to lead Mizzou back from a 22-point deficit to a 66-65 overtime win at Kansas State. She finished the week by topping 30 points for the second time this season, and the first time in Big 12 play, with a game-high 30 points against No. 11 Oklahoma. For the week, Bond was 20-of-35 from the field (.571), and 6-of-13 from 3-point range (.462).
The Urbana, Ill., native has now topped 20 points 10 times this season, and is fifth in the league in scoring at 18.0 ppg. She is also among the league leaders in seven other categories.
