Columbia, Mo. - Kanye West's red-hot "Touch the Sky' Tour is coming to Mizzou Arena! Hot on the heels of the release of his #1 album Late Registration Kanye West will be live in concert with his special guests American Idol Season 3 winner, Fantasia and rap star Common.
No matter who you are or where you lived in 2004 - if you owned a radio, television, computer or CD player, you felt Kanye West's presence. Since the release of his 3 million selling, critically acclaimed-debut The College Dropout, the Chicago-born 28 year old rapper/producer/hip-hop icon has been at the top of the charts and at the top of his game. From the red carpet of the 47th Grammys - where he topped all nominees with a historic ten nods and took home awards for Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song and Best R&B song - to the millions of albums sold, a sold-out stadium tour with Usher, and his ubiquitous presence on MTV, BET, CNN, and radio stations nationwide, West grew from being an artist to watch to an artist you experience. In 2005 he continues to skyrocket with the chart-topping debut of his new album "Late Registration" and the riveted attention of the international media including TIME who featured him on the magazine's cover.
Since stepping out from behind the production booth that birthed chart-topping hits like "Izzo (H.O.V.A.), "Get By", "Stand Up" and "You Don't Know My Name" for marquee artists such as Jay-Z, Talib Kweli, Ludacris and Alicia Keys to focus on his tremendous talents as a lyricist and songwriter, West has proven himself to be the most vital artist in hip-hop today.
Kanye West debuted on the Billboard chart at #1 with a whopping 860,000 copies sold of his sophomore effort, Late Registration. All over Late Registration, he indulges his sentimental R&B-poet side ("Roses"), his Seventies slow-jam love jones ("Celebration"), his wit ("Gold Digger"), his hard-ass politics ("Crack Music") and his love of Maroon 5 ("Heard 'Em Say," featuring Adam Levine).
On Late Registration, (Kanye West) doesn't just set out to create pop music -- he wants to be pop music. So he steps up his lyrical game, shows off his epic production skills, reaches higher, pushes harder and claims the whole world of music as hip-hop turf. - Rolling Stone
Late Registration is the most dynamic and original album of the fall - maybe even the year. - Newsweek
