MADISON, Wis. - - The Missouri women's golf team shot a final round 299 to finish third at the Badger Invitational at the University Ridge Golf Course in Madison, Wis. The Tigers' three-round total of 898 (292-307-299) was just two shots behind second place Texas A&M. MU's 299 in Monday's round was the second lowest final-round score, behind only tournament champion Purdue's 297.
Sophomore Madde Augustsson led MU with a fifth-place finish individually, carding a 76 in Monday's final round for a three-round total of 222 (69-77-76). It is her best finish in two seasons at MU, surpassing her 14th place showing at last spring's Betsy Rawls Invitational.
Senior Denise Munzlinger finished in a tie for seventh with a final score of 224 (73-77-74), which is her best 54-hole score since the fall of 2003.
A pair of Tigers, senior Kelli Strubinger (74-79-73=226) and junior Stephanie Wavro (76-74-76=226), were among those tied for 11th place. Strubinger turned in the best final round for Mizzou with her 73 and the 11th place finish for Wavro is a career best.
Junior Lyndsey Adams finished in a tie for 49th with a three-round total of 239 (77-83-79) and freshman Chelsea Schriewer, who competed individually in the tournament, tied for 55th with a score of 241 (89-74-78).
"We played well this week," Head Coach Stephanie Priesmeyer said. "We had four players finish in the top 11 and to do that in our first tournament of the season, I was very pleased. Madde had a great tournament and was solid, as were several others on the team."
Next up for the Tigers is the Mason Rudolph Invitational in Nashville, Tenn. on Sept. 23-25.
