STILLWATER, Okla. - - The last two times Missouri and Oklahoma State have faced off, it has taken awhile to determine a winner. On Friday night in Stillwater, Okla. it took 15 innings before OSU took a 6-2 win with a walk-off grand slam by Adam Carr.
These two teams met in the championship game of the Big 12 Tournament in Arlington, Texas last May with OSU defeating the Tigers 10-9 in 13 innings.
Friday night's game was the longest game of the season for Missouri (27-7, 8-2 Big 12) and the second to go to extra innings. MU is 0-2 in extra-inning games this season.
Oklahoma State (25-14, 6-7) scored the game's first run as Rusty Ryal hit his sixth home run of the season in the bottom of the second inning. The homer was just the second of the year given up by MU sophomore right-hander Max Scherzer.
The Tigers would take the lead with two runs in the top of the fourth inning. Junior James Boone doubled to drive in sophomore John McKee who had led off the inning with a single. Boone would score on a single from freshman Jacob Priday.
Boone remains on record-breaking pace, picking up his 58th RBI of the year for the Tigers.
Ty Wright would tie the score at two with a solo home run in the bottom half of the sixth inning for the third home run allowed by Scherzer this season.
The score would remain tied until the 15th and the homer by Carr.
