Columbia, Mo-The #53 Missouri tennis team continued its home court dominance defeating #75 Louisville, 5-2. The victory improves the Tigers to 8-2 on the season and extends their home win streak to 6-0.
Maintaining its reign in pairs play, Missouri claimed the doubles point for the seventh time this season. The duo of Katka Sevcikova and Carolyn Kramer picked up their fifth victory defeating Louisville's Leslie Stewart and Suzanna Gracanin, 8-5.
Highlighting for the Tigers in singles play, sophomore Erika Josbena came back from a 6-2 loss in the first set of No. 4 singles play to defeat Suzanna Gracanin 2-6, 6-1, 6-2. The victory improves Josbena's record to 7-3 on the season.
"Louisville is a great team," Head Coach Blake Starkey said. "They have several players with tremendous records that have been sidelined due to injury and for them to compete at the level they did today was tremendous."
Missouri faces Ohio State tomorrow at 2:00 p.m., in the Green Tennis Center. The Tigers continue the non-conference portion of their schedule hosting Air Force and Eastern Illinois on Sat., March 12. Missouri squares off against Air Force at 10:00 a.m., and faces Eastern Illinois at 4:00 p.m. All Missouri tennis matches are held in Green Tennis Center and are open to the public.
