
Tigers Roll Over Youngstown State, 17-0

COLUMBIA, Mo.-- - The Mizzou baseball team picked up its fourth-straight win with a 17-0 victory over Youngstown State on Sunday at Taylor Stadium. MU has shutout the Penguins in each of the first two games of the series, outscoring them 30-0 in the two games.
The last time Missouri (12-4) shutout its opponent in back-to-back games was in 1992, when it defeated Southeast Missouri State 17-0 and 16-0 on consecutive days.
Mizzou has reached double digits in runs in five of its last six games and 10 of its 16 games this season. It has outscored its opponents 181-54 on the season.
After recording a nine-run inning in Saturday's 13-0 win, the Tigers had had an 11-run second inning on Sunday. The 11 runs are the most scored in an inning by MU this season. Ten of the 11 runs were unearned as the Penguins committed two errors in the inning.
At one point in the second inning, the Tigers recorded three-consecutive doubles by junior James Boone, freshman Jacob Priday and junior Derek Chambers. Boone was 4-for-4 with five RBI and was a home run short of hitting for the cycle. It was the second game this season in which Boone drove in five runs and he currently has an eight-game hitting streak in tact.
Sophomore Nathan Culp picked up his third win in his last three starts going five innings allowing no runs on eight hits to move to 3-0 on the season.
