Wow! Time truly does fly! Can you believe the intrasquad is merely six days away?! I can, and I could not be more excited about it. Although it is just a practice it means so much more to me than that. Intrasquad embarks the beginning of another season of record breaking, of excitement, and success. We are more prepared than ever to show you fans what we've been working on.

This past week's practices could best be described as fair. We all traveled from our hometowns in time for an evening practice on Sunday. This practice was short, but just enough to get us back in the groove before kicking it into full gear Monday through Friday. The rest of the practices were up and down for each individual, but we all got through it.

What I see in the gym this year ignites my excitement even more. We have girls performing very well on events they probably never imagined they would. We have girls making aggressive mistakes, instead of being timid with their talent. Instead of just doing the skill, we have girls going for landings, which is an early achievement based upon previous seasons. Girls are much more team oriented this year. You can truly tell that each girl wants every teammate to reach their full potential. In years past I've witnessed teammates care more about "their spot" then they did about the team's success as a whole. NOT THIS YEAR! We ALL want the same things, and it feels great. Don't get me wrong competitive nature is great, but it's much more effective thirteen girls strong than it is when we compete against one another. We also are more often than not keeping our patience on frustrating days and making the most of what we produce on those days. These things and so much more tell me a lot about the character of this team. I am soooooo proud of what the girls have accomplished thus far. The behavior of this year's team spells out nothing but S-U-C-C-E-S-S!!!! But don't take my word for it, come out to the Hearnes Center this Saturday at 7 p.m. for a sneak preview of the season to come.

Your Tiger,

Whitney
