Missouri Game Notes
Today's game is the 11th meeting between Baylor and Missouri. MU leads the series 8-2, and has won the last five meetings between the two teams. Missouri has won all five contests against Baylor since the formation of the Big 12 conference in 1996.
In today's game the Missouri defense scored for the second straight week. In addition, the touchdown was the fourth defensive touchdown in the last five games.
In 2001 Missouri beat Baylor in their final home game of the season 41-24.
In last year's meeting between Missouri and Baylor the Tigers went to Waco and came out victorious with a 30-10 win.
Missouri this season has dropped 30 points on an opponent six times.
With the win Missouri now becomes bowl eligible. This is the second time in three years under Gary Pinkel that the Tigers are bowl eligible.
Missouri becomes bowl eligible for only the fourth time since 1983 with the victory over Baylor.
Missouri was 2-2 on fourth down conversions in today's game.
Missouri Player Notes
Senior Marcus King's 42 yard interception in the first quarter was the third of his career, and first of the season. The interception in today's game was the longest of King's career, and the first touchdown of his career.
True freshman Evander Hood's assisted sack was the first of his career. On the next play Hood recorded his first solo sack of his career.
In senior Scott Wheatley's last home game he recorded an assisted tackle, the first of his career.
Junior DeMarcus Scott's assisted sack in the second quarter was the first of his career.
Senior Brad Smith's 56 yard rushing touchdown in the second quarter gives him 40 rushing touchdowns for his career, which ties him with Zach Abron. The touchdown also passed Abron for most career points in Missouri history with 254 over the previous record of 252 points. With the addition of a third rushing touchdown, Smith ended the game with 260 points and moved into sole place of first in career rushing points.
Senior Brad Smith rushed for a second 56 yard touchdown in the fourth quarter which tied Zack Abron for career touchdowns with 42.
Sophomore Adam Crosett's 49 yard field goal in the third quarter was the longest of his career. His previous long was 45 yards in which he accomplished against both Arkansas State and New Mexico in 2005.
Senior Scott Wheatley's blocked extra point in the third quarter was the second blocked extra point for Wheatley this season. His other blocked extra point occurred against Kansas earlier this season.
Senior Brad Smith became the first player in NCAA history with 8000 yards of passing and 4000 yards rushing. In addition, the previous Big 12 record of 12,263 total offensive yards by Kliff Kingsbury of Texas Tech (1999-2002) was also broken by Brad Smith.
At the end of the game senior Brad Smith had 4,068 career yards rushing and 8,269 career yards passing.
Sophomore Tony Temple broke his single game rushing record of 80 yards against Troy with 100 yards in the Tigers' victory against Baylor.
Senior Brad Smith scored three rushing touchdowns against Baylor. This marks the third time this season that Smith has had three rushing touchdowns in a game. The other games this season in which Smith rushed for three touchdowns were against New Mexico and Nebraska.
Senior Brad Smith became the 6th player in NCAA history in career offense with the victory over Baylor. At the end of the game Smith had 12,337 total yards.
Baylor Team Notes
Baylor ends the game with a 4-6 overall record and 1-6 record in the Big 12. This loss officially ends any hope of a bowl for Baylor.
Baylor's return of an interception for a touchdown against Missouri was the first time a team has returned an interception for a touchdown against Missouri since 2004, when Brandon Archer returned an interception for a touchdown for Kansas State.
Baylor Player Notes
Junior CB C.J. Wilson's interception in the first quarter was his fifth of the season.
Junior Punter Daniel Sepulveda's 78 yard punt was the eight longest in school history. All three of Sepluveda's career longest punts have come against Missouri, 64, 69, and 78 yards respectively. The previous longest punt at Baylor occurred in 1989 with an 81 yard punt.
Senior Maurice Lane's fumble recovery in the third quarter was the fifth of his career.
Sophomore Brandon Whitaker's 44 yard rush in the third quarter was the longest in his career. The rush breaks his previous record of 26 yards against SMU this season.
Freshman Carl Sims touchdown in the fourth quarter was his first career touchdown.
