LAWRENCE, Kan. - Despite victories in the 500 and 1000 free from freshman Jill Granger, the No. 20 Missouri swimming and diving team lost to Kansas, 175-125, Friday night in Lawrence, Kan.
Mizzou (0-2-1, 0-2-1, Big 12) also got wins from junior Shannon Hogan in the 50 free and freshman Kendra Melnychuk on the 3-meter board.
"We've been training hard for the last nine weeks and I think it might have caught up with us tonight," Mizzou head coach Brian Hoffer said. "This was our first meet on the road, and that also might have been a factor. It was a great meet with a great crowd. It was exactly what a Missouri-Kansas meet should be."
The loss snaps the Tigers' five-meet winning streak against Kansas. Mizzou will be in action again on Nov. 18, when both the Tiger men and women travel to West Lafayette, Ind., for the Purdue Invite. For all the latest on Mizzou swimming and diving, visit www.mutigers.com.
