Box Score

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Missouri Tigers stormed past the Texas Tech Red Raiders 4-1 on Sunday afternoon in Lubbock, Texas. Senior forwards Amber Swinehart and Jennifer Nobis led the way for the Tigers as Swinehart scored two of the four Tiger goals and Nobis finished with four points on one goal and two assists.

The four goals scored were the third-most for Missouri (8-5-3, 3-3-2) on the season. The Tigers managed to outshoot Texas Tech (1-14, 0-6) 32-9 in the game, including 16-5 in shots on goal.

Only seven minutes into the match the Tigers got on the board after Nobis outran a Red Raider defender in a footrace to track down a half field pass from junior midfielder Aria Hudetz. The goal was the sixth of the season for Nobis.

Missouri had multiple scoring chances in the final 38 minutes of the first half but could not add to its 1-0 lead. Nobis had another opportunity in the 33rd minute after dribbling down the endline, however, the Texas Tech goalkeeper made a five-yard save. Missouri's offense dominated in the first 45 minutes, outshooting the Red Raiders 12-1 overall and 8-0 in shots on goal.

Swinehart increased the Missouri advantage to 2-0 in the 53rd minute for her seventh goal of the season. Swinehart chest-trapped a flick from Nobis, turned, dribbled into the box and blasted her shot past the Red Raider goalie and into the upper netting. Junior Meggie Malm also assisted on the goal.

The Red Raiders scored a goal of their own off a corner in the 67th minute after Jennifer Vasquez headed home Kimmie Davis' corner kick to narrow the score to 2-1.

Two goals within a three minute span clinched the win for the Tigers. In the 76th minute, Swinehart scored her second goal of the game and ninth of the season after gathering a loose ball just outside the box and firing her shot into the net. Three minutes later, Hudetz knocked in a rebound from four yards out for her sixth goal of the season. Nobis earned her second assist of the day on the goal.

Sophomore goalie Laura Buehrig saved three shots in goal for the Tigers and freshman Mallory Forst recorded one.

The Tigers return home next weekend to close out the home schedule with contests against Texas on Friday, Oct. 21 at 7:00 p.m. and non-conference opponent Colorado College on Sunday, Oct. 23 at 1:00 p.m. Sunday's match marks Senior Day, where Missouri will honor the four Tiger seniors before the game.
