Missouri vs. Texas October 1, 2005 Missouri Head Coach Gary Pinkel
Opening Statement:
"Texas is a great football team, they have a lot of great players and a lot of great plays. We have to give them credit for that. We're certainly disappointed in how we played, especially in the second half. I think we got a down a little bit and there were a lot of mistakes."
On Missed Opportunities:
"The turnovers in the first half against a football team like that, where you give up a third and 30, those are missed opportunities. It's difficult to win when you play a great football team. We certainly had some opportunities that we needed to take advantage of, turnovers at the time were very critical. I think they just wore us down a little bit."
On Texas Quarterback Vince Young:
"He's a great player, and he makes a lot of plays. He turns an average play into a great play, and he did that several times today. He also plays with a lot more confidence, that's a big difference too, that he's won a lot of games. He's had some comeback games and done a good job."
On Texas' Third and Thirty Rush:
"We responded pretty well to that. We held them to a field goal. It would take the wind out of anybody."
On Special Teams:
"Theirs were exceptional and ours weren't as good. We worked really hard on it and we're very disappointed."
On overall play:
"Texas is a really great team but I was disappointed that we didn't play better."
