Columbia, Mo. - The University of Missouri Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is partnering with the local business community in a mid-Missouri Hurricane Katrina relief effort next Tuesday, September 13th. The goal is to fill its football semi-trailer full of supplies to be given to those impacted by the hurricane. The event will take place at the Forum Shopping Center on the corner of Stadium Drive and Forum Boulevard, and will run from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Mid-Missourians are asked to help Mizzou stuff its semi-trailer full of supplies needed by hurricane survivors. Once full, the semi will be driven to a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)/American Red Cross approved drop site in Springdale, Ark., from where supplies will be distributed to Gulf Coast victims.
Those able to donate to Tuesday's drive are asked to bring only the following four types of items:
• Bottled Water
• Baby Food
• Canned Meat
• Diapers
Among those local business entities already pledging support to the drive include the Forum Development Group, Cumulus Broadcasting, Coca-Cola, ABC-17, University of Missouri Health Care and the Mike Kehoe Auto Group.
