Schumacher Named Director of Video Operations

April 4, 2005

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Michael Schumacher, who has served as a member of the athletic department's video staff for the past nine years, has been named director of video operations, associate athletics director Ed Stewart announced today. Schumacher's promotion became effective on April 1.

Schumacher, who had served as interim director since September 2004, was hired as an assistant video coordinator a year earlier in his first full-time position, and served previously as a graduate assistant under then-director Mike Cronemeyer. He began working with the department as a student videographer in the 1996-97 school year.

"I am very excited and grateful for this great opportunity given to me by Mike Alden, Coach Gary Pinkel and the entire athletic department," Schumacher said. "The Missouri Athletic Department has been a wonderful, family-like environment and I am really looking forward to continuing my career here. Working with each member of the coaching staffs of all of our sports has been a true pleasure. I also look forward to continuing to improve on the high standard this video department has set and to continuing the ongoing success our programs have had over the years."

A native of Ionia, Mo., where he maintains a 300-head cattle farm, Schumacher earned a bachelor's degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management from MU in 2001.

"Mike has been a valuable part of our video staff for a long time, and we're pleased to offer him the chance to stay at Missouri," Stewart said. "He has certainly earned this promotion."
