
Peterson Advances To The USATF 800-meter Final

BOSTON - Former University of Missouri track and field athlete Derrick Peterson (Atlanta, Ga.) qualified Friday for the 800-meter finals of the USA Track and Field Indoor Championships in Boston, Mass. The six-time all-American at Missouri, Peterson finished with the third best overall time of 1:49.04. Peterson will now move on to Saturday's finals which are slated to start at 4:12 p.m.
Peterson won two national championships at Missouri in the 800-meter run, winning the titles in both the indoor and outdoor season of 1999.
Another Tiger post-collegian, Timothy Dunne (Jerome, Idaho), also participated in the event, finishing with a time of 1:51.40.
Also competing this weekend will be former Tiger, Christian Cantwell (Eldon, Mo.). Cantwell will throw in the men's shot put competition on Sunday afternoon.
ESPN2 will have television coverage starting Saturday at 5:30 and Sunday at 5:00 p.m.
