
Mizzou Soccer Adds Seven Athletes

Columbia, Mo.-The Mizzou women's soccer team announces the signing of seven athletes to the 2004 Tiger soccer team. Laura Buehrig, Jena Lind, Maddie Senkosky, Megan Shelley and Elizabeth Wheeler signed letters of intent last week, while Casey Dreyfus and Megen Smith will join the program as walk-on players.
Laura Buehrig (Goalkeeper -- Needville, Texas)
Laura Buehrig played for the Challenge soccer club helping the team win Regional Championships in 2000 and 2002. The Challenge was Regional semi-finalists in 2001. Highlighting her playing career, Buehrig was a member of 2001 and 2002 National Champion Region III Olympic Development team.

Jena Lind (Forward -- Arlington, Texas)
Jena Lind comes to Mizzou following a stint playing for the Region III Olympic Development team during the 2002, 2003 and 2004 season. Lind played club ball for the 1986 Dallas Texans helping the team to a Regional Championship in 2001 on their way to a National Championship appearance. Lind served as the Summit High School (Texas) team captain as a junior and senior. She was named the Regional Newcomer of the Year and earned all-region as a senior.

Maddie Senkosky (Midfielder -- Springfield, Mo.)
Maddie Senkosky was named to the Missouri all-state team in 2003. Playing for Glendale High School (Mo.), she helped the team advance to the quarterfinals in the state soccer championships. Senkosky was honored as the 2003 Southwest Missouri All-Region Most Valuable Player and earned team MVP recognition in both 2002 and 2003. Honored for her work in the classroom as well, Senkosky earned high school Academic All-America accolades as a senior.

Megan Shelley (Goalkeeper -- Crystal Lake, Ill.)
Megan Shelley was a member of Fox Valley Strikers club team and played high school ball for Crystal Lake South.

Elizabeth Wheeler (Forward, Olathe, Kan.)
Elizabeth Wheeler was a member of Kansas City Chargers club team, helped the Chargers to win Kansas state championships in 2000 and 2001. Playing for Olathe East High School (Kan.), she led the team to win the 2001 state championship and to a second-place finish in 2002. Wheeler was honored as an all-state team member in 2002 and 2003. She also received National Athlete of the Week honors in 2001. Wheeler currently holds the Kansas high school record for most assists in a season and is ranked in the top-10 among Kansas high school soccer players in career scoring, single season scoring and career assists.

Casey Dreyfus (Midfielder, Chesterfield, Mo.)
Casey Dreyfus was a member of the J.B. Marine club team.

Megen Smith (Defender, Peculiar, Mo.)
Megen Smith played for the Blackfire Renegades club team and was a three-time all-conference and two-time all-district team honoree as a member of the Raymore-Peculiar High School (Mo.) team.
