
Amanda Bales Named Big 12 Runner of the Week

DALLAS - Missouri junior Amanda Bales was named the Big 12 Conference Runner of the Week on Tuesday after placing ninth overall at the Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Ind., last Friday. Bales now has won the award four times in her career.
Bales ran for a personal-best time of 17:01 in the 5K at the Notre Dame Invite. The junior from Bettendorf, Iowa, surged from the 20th position in the last two miles to lead the No. 23 Missouri women to a fourth-place overall finish in a field of nine ranked teams. Bales was a 2003 cross country All-American with the Tigers, helping the team to a 12th-place national finish.
The Missouri squad will take a week off, preparing for the NCAA Pre-National to take place in Terre Haute, Ind., on October 16. For more infomation, visit mutigers.com.
