INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Former Missouri track and field distance runner Ann Marie Brooks-Schwabe qualified Saturday for the U.S. National World Championship Cross Country team with a third place finish.
Snow lined the eight-kilometer course and conditions were very cold with moderate snowfall. Brooks-Schawbe took the conditions in stride and finished the race in third with a time of 27:33.
Ann Marie was a five-time all-American as a Tiger, combining a cross country top finish with four on-the-track honors. Graduating in 2001, Brooks-Schwabe was part of Missouri's national champion indoor distance medley relay team her senior year.
The 2004 IAAF World Cross Country Championships will be held in Brussels, Belgium, March 20-21.
