Tiger Men Take Second and Women Take Third at Triangular

The University of Missouri men and women's track team faced of against Kansas and Kansas State in Lawrence, Kansas for the KU-KSU-MU Triangular. The men finished second and the women finished third, Kansas State won on both sides for the fifth consecutive year.
On the men's side Christian Cantwell automatically qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships in the shot put with a throw of 65 feet, 7.75 inches, beating the next farthest throw, which belonged to teammate Russ Bell, by over 10 feet. Bell finished second and Cantwell finished third in the weight throw. Tiger Sprinter Marquis Davis won the 60 meter dash for the second consecutive week with a time of 6.89.The Tiger men dominated the distance events with Ryan Hampton winning the mile, Tim Dunne winning the 800 meters, and Tim Ross winning the 3000 meters.
On the women's side pole vaulter Jennifer Bennett set her second school record in as many weeks, winning the pole vault with a leap of 13 feet, .25 inches, which also set a provisional qualifying mark for the NCAA Indoor Championships, her teammate Lyndsey Tait set a personal best with a jump of 12 feet, 1.5 inches and finished second. Other Tigers that performed well include Amanda Bales who took second in the mile and 800 meters, Kristen Hansen finished second in the 1,000 meters, and Valerie Lauver took second in the 3,000 meters.
The Tigers are in action next at Illinois next week. The next home meet is February 22nd for the Missouri All-Comers Meet at the Hearnes Center Field House
