COLUMBIA, Mo. - Eric McDonnell, longtime athletic trainer at Mizzou, has been inducted into the Missouri Athletic Trainers Association's Sports Medicine Hall of Fame. He will be enshrined this Friday at 7 p.m. in the Memorial Stadium Tiger Lounge.
Joining McDonnell in the Hall will be John R. Donnell, athletic trainer for 16 years at Lee's Summit High School and Dr. Robert A. Shively, assistant professor and team physician at Washington University in St. Louis. The three will be enshrined for outstanding service, dedication and contributions in sports medicine.
In addition to his 21 years of service at Missouri, McDonnell has coordinated medical coverage for 16 years for the Show Me State Games, and has been a strong leader for the Missouri Athletic Trainers Association for many years.
Donnell, a mainstay in the Kansas City area in high school athletic training, volunteers his time to provide sports medicine coverage for many MSHSAA championship events and sits on the MSHSAA Sports Medicine Advisory Board.
Shively presently serves as the team physician for Washington University, and over the past 20 years provided medical coverage for various high schools in the St. Louis Metropolitan area and most recently served as team physician for the St. Louis Rams from 1995-2000.
