Missouri Falls to Auburn at the Auburn Invitational

AUBURN, Ala.-- -

The Missouri Tiger softball team never trailed in the Auburn Invitational until the final inning of the final game. Auburn defeated MU 3-2 in the championship game on Sunday in Auburn, Ala. to claim the tournament title. The Tigers are now 4-1 on the season.

Missouri scored the first runs of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning. With two outs, Rachael McGinnis walked. Morgan LeCluyse then connected for a 2-run homerun to left field to give Mizzou a 2-0 lead. Auburn scored one run in the sixth inning to cut MU's lead to one run. With one out in the seventh inning, Auburn's Ashley Griffen hit a two-run homerun to give Auburn the 3-2 lead.

Erin Kalka took her first loss of the year and is now 2-1.

Next week the Tigers travel to Palo Alto, Cailf. for the Stanford Invitational. Mizzou will open play on Friday against Penn State.
