Columbia, Mo. - The Missouri football team held its final pre-season scrimmage today in sweltering heat at Faurot Field.
It was a day that was dominated by the Tiger defense, as the offense managed just one score, coming on a Kirk Farmer to Justin Gage pass from seven yards out. The score came against the #2 defense.
The score was set up by a 45-yard pass down the left sideline from Farmer to Thomson Omboga. Omboga took a short pass, and got free down the sidline thanks to some key blocks from his fellow receivers.
Defensively, nearly everyone was a standout on the day. Tauras Ferguson was quite noticeable, however, as he broke up at least three passes on the day, and nearly had two interceptions, one of which would have gone for a touchdown.
Quincy Wade grabbed an interception near the right sideline and returned it 10 yards.
Punter Brock Harvey was in fine form, drawing cheers from the 400+ people in attendance with his booming punts. One registered nearly 75 yards.
The Tigers are off on Friday, and will resume practicing Saturday morning in preparation for their Aug. 31 opener vs. Illinois in St. Louis.
