
No. 25 Oklahoma State Outscores Missouri, 12-11

COLUMBIA, Mo. - In a matchup between two of the nation's most potent offenses, Oklahoma State outscored Missouri 12-11 in Saturday's Big 12 Conference game at Taylor Stadium/Simmons Field.
Oklahoma State, ranked 25th by ESPN/Baseball Weekly, entered the series ranked ninth nationally in runs per game by averaging 9.1 runs per contest while the Tigers entered the series ranked 19th by averaging 8.5 runs per game. Missouri scored its 11 runs in the first four innings while OSU used four home runs, including two in the ninth inning, to score its 12 runs and record the win.
Oklahoma State improves to 32-15 overall and 10-9 in Big 12 play while Missouri is 23-23 overall and 9-12 in league action.
Oklahoma State jumped out to a 4-0 lead after a three-run home run by Jake Bollig. In the Tigers' half of the first inning, Jayce Tingler led off with a bunt single to extend his hit streak to 22 games. W.T. Hoover and Cody Ehlers walked to load the bases. Lee Laskowski hit into a fielder's choice to score Tingler. Jody Roughton doubled to right field to score Hoover before Mick Weiss singled to plate Laskowski. Roughton scored when Luke Cassis hit into a fielder's choice and tie the game, 4-4.
In the second inning, MU's Tony Vitello led off with a double down the left-field line. After moving to third base after an infield out, Vitello scored on a single by Hoover. A single by Ehlers chased OSU's starting pitcher, Chris Reilly. Hoover scored on a groundout before Ehlers scored on a single by Roughton to give MU a 7-4 lead.
Luke Cassis led off the third inning with a walk. He went to third on a single by Vitello and scored on a wild pitch to give the Tigers an 8-4 lead.
Oklahoma State got a two-run single from Daylon Monette in the fourth inning as the Cowboys scored three runs in the frame to make it 8-7. Just like in the first inning, Missouri answered OSU's outburst. The Tigers got a leadoff single from Ehlers and Laskowski was hit by a pitch. Roughton reached on a bunt single and an OSU throwing error scored Ehlers. Laskowski scored on a groundout before Roughton stole home to give the Tigers an 11-7 lead.
Oklahoma State scored one run in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings to come within one run, 11-10.
The Cowboys got a pair of home runs in the ninth inning to take a 12-11 lead. Bollig hit his third homer in the game, a one-out solo shot to tie the game, before Rob Watson homered to left-center field to give OSU the 12-11 lead.
Roughton led the Tigers with three hits and three runs batted in. Ehlers and Vitello each had two hits.
Travis Wendte suffered the loss and is now 3-2 this season. Daniel Rew, who threw 5.1 hitless innings in relief, recorded the win for OSU.
The two teams will complete the three-game series Sunday at 1 p.m.
