Men's Golf Finishes 2nd at Stevinson Ranch Invitational

Stevinson, Calif. - The University of Missouri men's golf team finished 2nd at the 4th annual Stevinson Ranch Invitational, hosted by Colorado at the Stevinson Ranch Golf Club in Stevinson, Calif.
Missouri held a five-shot lead over Kansas heading into Tuesday's final round, but the Tigers couldn't hold on as KU rallied to shoot a field-best 291 as a team in the third round, while MU came in at 297 on the day. The 2nd-place finish marked the second straight tournament that the Tigers have been runners up. MU also placed 2nd in two tournaments this fall.
Tiger senior Mark McBride tied for 3rd place individually, with a three-round score of 213. McBride opened on Monday by tying a tournament record with a six-under 66. He followed with a one-under 71 in the 2nd round, and was co-leader entering the final round with Kansas' Casey Harbour, but a four-over 76 Tuesday slipped him to 3rd.
Sophomore Brandon Knaub continued his solid play by finishing in a tie for 5th place, just one stroke back of McBride at 214. Junior Chris Happ also recorded a top-20 finish, as he shot a three-round total of 219 to tie for 17th overall. Cory Ewert was the 4th Tiger to finish in the top-25 (T-23rd - 220) and freshman Ben Scott rounded out the Tiger competitors in a tie for 50th (227).
Next up for Head Coach Tim Robyn's squad is the ASU Indian Classic, to be held April 15-16 in Jonesboro, Ark.
