
Missouri Finishes Second at the Corvette Cup

Columbia, Mo.-The University of Missouri topped the podium at the Eighth Annual Corvette Cup taking four individual event titles. Despite winning three events, Mizzou finished second as a team scoring a 194.775-the fourth highest team total in school history and the second highest score of the season. The Tigers finished behind 2002 champions the No. 15 ranked Denver Pioneers with a 195.675. Illinois State finished third in the meet with a 193.000 and Utah State rounded out the quad with a 191.700.
The Tigers took top honors on vault with two athletes vying for a four-way tie for the Cup title. Both sophomore Lindsay Davis and freshman Alisha Robinson scored a 9.775 to top the podium with Denver's Jill Gunter and Ashley Shible.
Sophomore Andrea Nervig opened the meet tying her season high on vault landing a 9.675 duplicating her score from the previous meet. Freshman Ashley Asraf scored a 9.650 to tie her career vault score for the third time during the 2002 season. The Tigers scored a 48.450 to record their second-highest vault score of the year and the eighth highest score in program history.
On the uneven bars Robinson shined scoring a meet-high 9.900 to win the event. Recovering from an ankle/heel injury that has kept her to competing in just two events during the last two meets, the score is her fourth 9.9+ on the uneven bars this year. Robinson owns the Mizzou all-time record with a 9.925 and has recorded four of the program's top-10 beam scores. Nervig followed Robinson in second-place with a 9.875 on the apparatus.
Mizzou cracked the record books on balance beam once again tying three individual career scores. Leah Gremaud won the event tying her career and MU's program mark with a 9.925-it is the third time the sophomore has scored a 9.925 in 2002. She also owns eight of Missouri's all-time top-15 beam scores. Also hitting new heights on beam, Asraf scored a 9.850 and Rachel Bridges recorded a 9.825 to boost the Tigers and set a season and career-marks on the apparatus.
Rounding out the competition, the Tigers recorded a 48.725 on the floor with Bridges recording her second career-high of the evening nailing a 9.825.
Serving as MU's only all-arounder in the meet, Davis recorded her second-highest score of the year with a 38.850. She scored a 9.775 on vault, 9.750 on bars, 9.725 on beam and a 9.600 on the floor exercise.
