COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Texas Longhorns handed Missouri a 7-2 loss in Sunday's Big 12 Conference game at Taylor Stadium/Simmons Field.
The Longhorns scored in all but four innings as they won each game of the three-game series. Texas, ranked as high as 18th nationally, improved to 20-6 overall and 5-4 in Big 12 play. Missouri is now 7-11 and 0-6 in league action.
The Longhorns scored a run in each of the first three innings to take a 3-0 lead. Texas used three hits to score two runs in the fifth inning to take a 5-0 and chase Garrett Broshuis, MU's starting pitcher.
Texas plated two runs in the seventh inning, taking advantage of two hits and one MU error.
Missouri got untracked offensively in the ninth inning as it collected three of its six hits in the frame. Cody Ehlers led off the inning with a single to left field. Mick Weiss singled to center to put runners at first and second base, respectively, with one out. With two outs, pinch hitter W.T. Hoover doubled to center field, scoring both Ehlers and Weiss to make the final margin, 7-2.
Missouri will face Arkansas Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Taylor Stadium/Simmons Field.
