COLUMBIA, Mo. - With a record crowd of 10,321 fans in attendance, the University of Missouri women's basketball team made sure it didn't disappoint the fans as it recorded a 69-57 victory over Kansas Saturday at the Hearnes Center.
The win was Missouri's fifth straight over Kansas and the crowd topped last year's mark of 10,126 set against Kansas on Feb. 10, 2001.
Kerensa Barr had a career-high tying 24 points and five assists to lead the Tigers. Barr now has 301 career assists and ranks fifth all-time at Missouri.
Evan Unrau had 16 points and 13 rebounds to record her sixth double-double of the season.
"I think the crowd was a huge factor," said Unrau. "We don't usually have this kind of atmosphere with this many people supporting us. When we made a run, the crowd got behind us."
Kansas jumped to an early 19-11 lead on the play of Selena Scott, who had six points. However, Missouri answered with a 9-0 run to make it 20-19 after a layup by Amy Loftus. The teams traded baskets before a Barr layup gave the Tigers a 30-27 lead. Missouri never trailed again.
Missouri, now 14-8 overall and 5-6 in the Big 12 Conference, plays at No. 13/13 Colorado Wednesday night. The game will start at 8 p.m. Central.
