
Tigers Host All-Comers Meet

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- The Missouri Men's and Women's Track & Field teams will hold their last home meet of the indoor season, the Missouri All-Comers meet, this weekend before heading to Lincoln, Neb., for the Big 12 Indoor Championships.
Track athletes of all ages will participate in the annual All-Comers event, which begins Feb. 16 at 8:30 a.m. in the Hearnes Fieldhouse.
Results and a recap of the meet will be available following Saturday's events on-line at www.mutigers.com.
Iowa State Classic Review
Christian Cantwell's shot put toss of 66-4.50 in Ames, Iowa was the fifth time in six indoor meets that the Eldon, Mo. native hit an automatic qualifying mark. His mark Saturday set both the ISU stadium record and the ISU Classic meet record. Cantwell's teammate, junior Russ Bell, took second in the event with a provisional qualifying mark of 58-10.25.
Senior Micah Shanks' toss of 70-10.50 in the men's weight throw gave him an automatic qualifying mark in the event. Shanks placed second in the weight throw behind Kansas senior Scott Russell, who set the collegiate record in the event Friday with his throw of 81-1.25.
Sophomore Lyndsey Tait's height of 12-0 in the women's pole vault was not only a personal best for the Jefferson City, Mo. native but the school record as well. Tait placed seventh in the event. Sophomore Jennifer Bennett cleared 11-6, her personal best in the pole vault.
Tigers in the Nation
With their provisional and automatic qualifying marks, many Missouri athletes are ranked nationally for their performances.
On the men's side, five athletes are ranked nationally. The newest Tiger to join the ranks is junior Timothy Dunne (Jerome, Idaho/Jerome HS) who provisionally qualified in the 800m Feb. 2 (1:49.84) and is ranked 15th. Freshman high jumper Jesse Sims (Paola, Kan./Paola HS) is ranked 18th this week with his provisional-qualifying leap of 7-1 from the KSU-KU-MU Triangular. Throwers Christian Cantwell, Russ Bell (Jefferson City, Mo./Jefferson City HS) and Micah Shanks (Casey, Ill./Newton Community HS) are also ranked for the men. Cantwell is ranked third in both the shot put and the weight throw, Bell is fifth in the weight throw and 19th in the shot and Shanks is fourth in the weight throw for the Tigers.
On the women's side, sophomore Christi Myers (Raytown, Mo./Raytown HS) provisionally qualified in the high jump after her leap of 5-9.75 at the Notre Dame Meyo Invitational. She is ranked 19th in the nation.
On a global scale
Three men's throwers not only make the list of nationally ranked athletes, but are rated in the world.
Christian Cantwell is ranked fifth in the world in the shot put.
In the weight throw, Cantwell, Micah Shanks and Russ Bell are ranked seventh, ninth and 11th, respectively in the world.

The men's and women's teams travel to the Big 12 Championships held at Lincoln, Neb. Feb. 22-23.
The Big 12 Outdoor Championships will be held in Columbia, Mo. May 17-19 at Walton Stadium.
