Up This Week
The Mizzou women's soccer team travels to San Antonio, Texas, to compete in the Big 12 Tournament Thurs., Nov 7-Sun. Nov. 10. The No. 4 seeded Tigers face the No. 5 seeded Colorado Buffaloes in the first round on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. The winner of the MU-CU game then faces the winner of the Oklahoma State-Texas A&M match on Friday at 5:00 p.m. The championship game is scheduled for Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
All games will be played at the Blossom Sports Complex in San Antonio, Texas. Live scoring will be provided by the Big 12 Conference at www.big12sports.com.
Missouri Rankings
Mizzou jumps up a spot in both the Soccer Buzz and NSCAA/adidas Central Region rankings finishing the 2002 regular season with an 11-6-2 record. The Tigers are currently ranked sixth by Soccer Buzz and come in seventh in the NSCAA poll.
Mizzou in the Big 12
Rounding out conference play with a 5-4-1 record, the Tigers finish fourth in league standings. Texas A&M won the conference season title with a 9-0-1 record. Texas finished second (9-1-0) and Nebraska placed third (6-3-1).
During the 2002 season, Missouri has averaged 6.84 points per game to rank third in the league overall. Mizzou is also third in the conference with 44 season goals to average 2.32 goals per game and 42 assists to average 2.21 assists per game. The Tigers are also ranked second in the league with 105 saves on the year to average 5.53 saves per outing.
Also topping the league during Big 12 Conference play, in 10 league games the Tigers amasses 25 goals (2.5 gpg), 24 assists (2.40 apg) and 74 points (7.40 ppg) to also rank in as the third team during conference games.
All-Big 12
Sophomore Missy Peabody was honored as an All-Big 12 second team selection after leading the league in shots and shots per game during the 2002 season. In addition to setting a new Mizzou single-season shot record taking 95 shots this year, the forward also topped in as Missouri's second leading scorer with nine goals, nine assists and 27 points.
Peabody is ranked sixth in the Big 12 in goals and fourth in assists. She also tops the field tied for second in the league with four game winning-goals on the season - a mark that ties her own Missouri season record.
Leading the Field
Junior forward Adriene Davis leads the Tigers with 10 goals, 10 assists and 30 points in 2002. Putting up points for Mizzou during the last six consecutive games, Davis established a new single-season record scoring 13 consecutive game points. She has also brought her career assists mark to 27 in three years to rank second in Missouri all-time history. She is just two assists behind the current record of 29 held by Nikki Thole.
Her feats rank the junior third in the Big 12 Conference in overall scoring to average 1.58 points per game. She is also ranked third in goals and assists per game with 0.53.
Davis rounded out the regular season helping the Tigers defeat Kansas 2-0 and earn their fourth shutout of the year. Following her 10 Big 12 Conference games, Davis tops the league in scoring with 20 points. She averaged 2.00 points per conference game. She also scored seven of her 10 goals on the year against Big 12 opponents to rank second in the league. Likewise, six of her 10 assists were scored during conference play to rank her third averaging 0.60 assists per league match.
Building Up Bauer
Midfielder Karen Bauer proved to be the key to Mizzou's success against Kansas. The sophomore dished out two assists in the game to help boost the Tigers to a 2-0 victory over the Jayhawks. It is Bauer's second double-assist game of the year and brings her season tally to seven.
Overall, Bauer is ranked fifth on the team with 11 points also including two goals. She checks tied for ninth in the Big 12 Conference in season assists averaging 0.37 per game.
Nobis Notables
Jennifer Nobis rounds down the regular season as the third leading scorer on the Missouri team. She has scored eight goals and three assists for 19 points. The feat ties the freshman as the fourth-leading goal scorer in the Big 12 Conference averaging 0.44 goals per game. She is also tied for fifth in the league with three game-winning goals on the year.
Nobis owns two double-goal games on the year scoring a pair in consecutive games against Oklahoma State and Iowa State. She also dished out the game-winner to help the Tigers defeat Kansas 2-0.
Keeping Up With Krawczyk
Stephanie Krawczyk is 4-3-0 on the year. She has played 635 minutes on the year allowing 11 goals for a 1.56 goals against average. She has also made 36 saves facing 100 shots to own a .766 save percentage. She also owns two shutouts on the year.
Krawczyk jumped into the Missouri starting line-up during Big 12 Conference play. During six league games, the junior has averaged 5.33 saves per game to rank fourth in the Big 12. She is also tied for second in shutouts and fifth in save percentage.
