St. Louis, Mo. - University of Missouri men's golfer Mark McBride won two more matches at the 2001 Missouri Amateur Championship Saturday, and advanced to the title match Sunday, where he'll have a chance to successfully defend his 2000 title.
McBride defeated Chris Hill of Springfield Saturday morning, 3 and 2, and came back to down Bryan Johnson of Thayer, 1 up in the afternoon semifnal match. He'll face Len Johnsen of Overland Park, Kan. in Sunday's championship match.
If McBride gets the win Sunday, he'll become the first male to win consecutive Missouri Amateurs since Tom Watson accomplished the feat in 1970 and '71.
