Stillwater, Okla. - University of Missouri men's golfer Mark McBride continued his climb up the standings, but fell just short of advancing on, as his season came to and end today at the NCAA Central Regional, which was held at Karsten Creek Golf Course in Stillwater, Okla.
McBride shot his third straight one-over par 73, and moved up to a tie for 15th place overall. Unfortunately for McBride, he ended just five shots shy of advancing to the NCAA Championships. McBride's three-round total of 219 left him as the sixth-highest individual not on advancing teams, and only two individuals move on along with the top ten teams in the field.
The two advancing individuals were John Klauk of Texas, who was the tournament champion, with a three-round total of 212, while Andy Stewart of Kansas (who finished 3rd overall with a 214) was the last individual to advance.
Ten teams in the 27-team regional, as well as the two lowest individuals not on advancing teams, will move to the NCAA Championships, set for May 22-25 at The Meadows Golf Club in Allendale, Mich.
Following is a recap of the team and top-25 individual standings.
