Columbia, Mo. - University of Missouri junior guard Clarence Gilbert has been suspended indefinitely from the men's basketball team for undisclosed internal disciplinary reasons, as announced today by Head Coach Quin Snyder.
Gilbert, the fourth-leading scorer in the Big 12 Conference with a 17.0-per game average, will not make the trip to Ames, Iowa, where the Tigers (15-7 overall, 6-3 in Big 12 Conference play) will take on 12th-ranked Iowa State (20-3, 8-2) Sunday afternoon. Any timetable beyond Sunday will be determined at a later date.
In another roster move, former walk-on Kenge Stevenson has been dismissed from the team for undisclosed internal reasons.
Stevenson, a junior who played in 27 games over the past three seasons, was awarded a scholarship prior to the 2000-01 season. He will retain his scholarship for the remainder of the year.
