Columbia, Mo. - University of Missouri alumnus Chad Moller has been named director of athletic media relations for Tiger Athletics, as announced today by Director of Athletics Michael Alden. Moller had served as interim director since late June.
Moller, 31, has eight years of experience in the Division I media relations field, and the upcoming 2000-01 season will mark his seventh year of promoting Tiger Athletics. He has served as men's basketball contact since August of 1996, and spent the 1992-93 and 1993-94 seasons as a graduate assistant in the sports information office. In between, Moller spent the 1994-95 and 1995-96 seasons as an assistant sports information director at Baylor University. He has received several Co-SIDA awards throughout his career for his publications work.
"Chad has done an outstanding job for this University, and I'm pleased that he will have a chance to expand his leadership role," said Mike Alden. "We conducted an extensive search to find the right person for this position, and Chad's name is the one to which we kept coming back. Mizzou alumni can be proud - he's a quality person who will represent this department and this University exceptionally well," he said.
"I'm thrilled to have this opportunity," said Moller. "I've been associated with the University of Missouri for nearly 12 years now, and it's very gratifying to have the chance to help shape the future of a department and a University which has meant so much to me," he said.
Moller will continue as primary contact for men's basketball, in addition to assuming numerous management responsibilities. Assistant director Jeremy McNeive will be MU's primary contact for football.
A native of Lincoln, Neb., Moller is a 1991 graduate of the MU School of Journalism. He is married to the former Sherry Wilson, a Macon, Mo. native and a 1992 MU graduate. They are the parents of one-year-old Allison Mackenzie.
