St. P?lten, Austria - The Big 12 Men's Basketball All-Star Team dropped its sixth and final game 101-93 to UKJ Suba Basketball Club to finish its 2000 European Tour at 5-1.
Missouri senior guard Brian Grawer scored four points for the Big 12 squad, and added four assists to the cause. In the six games, Grawer averaged 4.3 points per game, and led the all-star team with a total of 15 assists. He had a sterling 3-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio, notching 15 assists to just five turnovers.
Playing in their third game in three days and their fifth in the last six days, the All-Stars seemed fatigued and struggled in the first two periods, shooting just 11-of-39 from the floor, and fell behind 47-35 at intermission.
While the shooting percentage improved in the second half, the Stars could not overcome UKJ. The 1999 Austrian National Champions pulled away to a 74-44 lead in the third period and the 30-point margin proved to be too much.
The Big 12 squad mounted a furious fourth-quarter comeback and even cut the lead to less than ten, but there was simply not enough time to overtake UKJ.
Oklahoma State's Andre Williams played extremely well for the Stars, scoring 12 points and pulling down a tour-high 14 rebounds.
"It's disappointing to finish with a loss," Williams said. "But the tour was such a positive experience. We really had a good trip."
Kansas' Luke Axtell, still hampered by a groin pull suffered in warm-ups on Aug. 15, did not see action, but did participate in light pre-game drills.
