Tigers Fall To Sooners, Next Face Cowgirls

Oklahoma City, Okla. - Top-seeded and fourth-ranked Oklahoma gave up three runs in the first inning then scored the final eight runs of the game to beat eighth-seeded Missouri, 8-3, in Big 12 Softball Tournament action in Oklahoma City, Okla.
The Tigers used an RBI-single from Dara Throneburg and a 2-RBI single from Christy Skouby against OU starter Jennifer Stewart to start the scoring. Stewart was replaced by Lana Moran with two outs in the second and the senior held Missouri to three hits the rest of the game.
The Sooners scored single runs in the second, third and fourth frames and added three more in the fifth, two on Mandy Fulton's ninth home run of the year. Big 12 Newcomer of the Year Andrea Davis belted her 11th homer of the season, a two-run shot, in the sixth to cap the scoring.
Big 12 Player of the Year Lisa Carey was 3-for-3 at the plate while Fulton and Davis collected a pair of hits apiece. Moran earned the win in relief for OU and improved her record to 23-1.
Missouri's Stephanie Falk, who gave up six runs (five earned) in 4.1 innings of work, took the loss and fell to 17-16. Oklahoma, which is now 56-6, will play again today at 6 p.m. versus Texas A&M. Missouri dropped to 32-26 and will play at 3 p.m. against Oklahoma State.
