It was a long day for Missouri (5-6, 0-1) as the Tigers traveled down to Aggieland to take on #16 Texas A&M (10-1, 1-0) in the Big 12 Conference season opener. The Aggies beat the Tigers in three games (15-0, 15-8, 15-6).
The main factor leading to the loss was blocking. A&M out-blocked Missouri 7-to-1, not to mention they hit .533 to the Tigers .170. Another factor was the loss of freshman Christi Myers who saw limited action due to an aggravated shin.
Junior Annette Luyten led the Tigers in hitting with a .412 clip.
Missouri opens a two-match homestand Saturday against the Kansas Jayhawks. The Jayhawks were 8-2 prior to a Wednesday night match against Texas.
