Missouri Volleyball Comes Out Of Fayetteville 1-2

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -Missouri (5-5) got off to a good start on Saturday with a win over Louisiana Tech (2-10). The Tigers won the match in three games (15-9, 15-6, 15-11). Sophomore Naaron Branson led Missouri with a .619 hitting percentage, connecting on 21 attacks and 14 kills. Freshman Christi Myers was also successful on the offensive end, hitting a .450 clip. Together, the two led the Tigers a .298 hitting percentage.
After an afternoon of rest, Missouri met up with Arkansas (10-2) who, at the time, was ranked 20th in the nation. The Tigers battled their way through four games, but lost 1-3 (3-15, 14-16, 15-8, 8-15). Myers led the team with 17 kills and redshirt freshman Lisa Morris stepped up, connecting on 14 kills for a .306 average, adding 12 digs. Junior Annette Luyten was next in line with 12 kills, a .286 average and 14 digs. Branson also came up big with her 13 digs. In the third game, the Tigers held the Razorbacks to a .048 clip while hitting .196 themselves.
Branson and Myers were selected to the all-tournament team for the second consecutive tournament. It is the third all-tournament selection for Branson.
The Tigers start conference play this Wednesday, Sept. 22, as they take on Texas A&M in College Station, Texas.
