Missouri Loses Tight Volleyball Match To New Hampshire

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Missouri (4-4) opened play at the Bank of Fayetteville Invitational with a loss to the New Hampshire Wildcats (5-5). The Tigers played close but fell in three games (13-15, 12-15, 14-16). Despite a tremendous effort offensively, Missouri recorded too many serving and reception errors: 19 and 13, respectively, to New Hampshire's 13 service aces.
Hometown hero Naaron Branson led the Tigers both offensively and defensively with a .486 hitting percentage (19-for-35, two errors) and 18 digs. Junior Annette Luyten was second on the team, hitting a .263 clip (7-for-19) and nine digs.
As a team, Missouri out-blocked (7 team blocks to 5) and out-hit (.221 to .188) the Wildcats.
The Tigers face Louisiana Tech at 11:00 a.m. and host Arkansas at 7:30 p.m. on the final day of the tournament.
