LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) - Devin West ran for 133 yards and three touchdowns as No. 18 Missouri held off a late charge by Texas Tech for a 28-26 victory on a rainy Saturday.
West became the first running back in 12 games to run for more than 100 yards against Tech, while the Red Raiders' top running back, Ricky Williams, missed most of the second half with a sprained ankle.
With the Tigers (6-2, 2-1, Big 12) ahead 28-19 with 1:05 left, backup Matt Tittle threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to Kyle Allamon. But a 2-point conversion attempt failed and an onside kick was recovered by Missouri.
The Red Raiders (6-3, 3-3) have now lost three in a row.
Texas Tech began the third quarter with a 12-play, 70-yard drive that ended in a 5-yard TD pass from Rob Peters to Tim Baker with 9:38 left in the third. The score cut Missouri's lead to 21-12.
But a fumble by Peters on Tech's 20 was recovered by Missouri, setting up a Tigers touchdown to give them a 28-12 lead.
With 10:56 left Allamon caught a 12-yard TD pass and Ricky Hunter ran in a 2-point conversion to close the margin to 28-20.
Texas Tech took a 3-0 lead on Chris Birkholz's 19-yard field goal with 5:54 left in the first quarter. Missouri went ahead 7-3 on West's 2-yard TD run early in the second quarter.
Texas Tech closed to 7-6 on a 30-yard field goal by Birkholz with 6:42 left in the half.
Missouri's Pat Mingucci then forced a fumble by Peters and Terrell Jurineack ran it in for a 17-yard TD with three minutes left in the half.
Corby Jones threw for just 54 yards but his 35-yard completion to Kent Layman set up another 2-yard TD run by West that made it 21-6 with 1:11 left in the half.
Peters passed for 153 yards and Hunter led Tech's rushing effort with 121 yards.
