Sophomore forward Nikki Thole was named Big 12 Player of the Week after her spectacular performance against Texas Tech. In a matter of seven minutes, Thole shredded the Red Raider defense to score her third hat trick of the year. Not only did she score the game winner, but also broke Missouri's All-Time leading scoring record as well. So far this season Thole has eleven goals and nine of those are from hat tricks. She is the only player in Missouri history to score a hat trick, let alone three. Named to second team All Big 12, and to Soccer Buzz's Third Team Freshman All-American, and First Team All-Central Region in 1997, Thole has never been named Big 12 Player of the Week previously. Currently ranked 13th nationally with an average of 2.6 points per game, and 11th nationally with goals per game, Thole has helped Missouri get their best start in school history.
Also adding herself to the national ranks is junior forward Erin Grimsley. She is currntly ranked 14th for assists per game. She has had seven assists so far this season, and matches that with seven goals.
